Water is our only molecule of life.
Ever wondered about the different forms, shapes of matter and energy water can take? The relationship between drinking water, and our city life?
Join Jane Withers, an Internationally acclaimed Designer and Curator, raise some of the most pertinent questions the world needs to ask, if we are to protect, both - Water & our Society.

Jane Withers is a leading curator and design consultant. Her London-based studio works with global brands and institutions on design-led strategies, curation and programming that brings innovative design thinking to address social, cultural and commercial challenges.

Jane has curated critically acclaimed exhibitions and programmes at the Victoria & Albert Museum and Royal Academy of Arts among many others internationally. Jane was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of Westminster for services to the environment, and recently received Milan’s Design Prize for Experimentation.

What is LIGHT? How can you control light? How do you design with light? To answer all these questions especially in context of spectacular shows and immersive experiences, join Veenu Pasricha for a very interesting talk on this illuminated subject and learn about lighting installations, lighting festivals, interactive light, son-et-lumieres and more…

Veenu Pasricha joined The AV Workshop in 1987 and worked as chief AV programmer. He set up A. V. Graphics Pvt. Ltd. in 1988. He comes from a family of 3 generations of photographers. A graduate of IIT Delhi, Veenu brings his technical and creative skills, not only in graphics and audio-visual production, but also in the design and programming of lights and the production of son-et-lumière (sound & light) shows.

At the age of 24, with only a camera and hand-held GPS unit, Anthony Acciavatti left New York City to map the most densely populated river basin in the world: River Ganga. Over the next decade, he began to obsessively record the cycles of the monsoons and the dynamism of Ganga, developing new ways of visualizing this iconic river basin.

Dr. Anthony Acciavatti is the author of Ganges Water Machine: Designing New India’s Ancient River (2015), the first comprehensive mapping and urban history of the Ganga River basin in over half a century. In 2016 the book was awarded the John Brinckerhoff Jackson Book Prize. Trained in architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design and Harvard University and in the history of science at Princeton University, Dr. Acciavatti currently teaches at Yale University. He is a principal of Somatic Collaborative in New York.

On the one hand urban governance in India is not an established and recognized system as is the central government and state governments. Further because Urban governance could not attain the prominence and relevance it should have, data relating to a multitude of city functions is just not available in a transparent and open manner. Why is it that we do not have city GDP figures or status of city residents in a regular and continuing manner. Other than the census figures which become available once in ten years, how relevant is generation of data of a wide variety of urban matters and how it can influence better decision making at the city town/level. What could be the way forward to have reliable data about various aspects of city governance, Secretary Dr Ramachandran will be talking on these critical aspects at this webinar.

He was the chief architect of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission as Secretary, Urban, Government of India. For his work in infrastructure he was called “The Infrastructure Man” on deputation to UNDP. He was Chairman, Delhi Metro and Kochi Metro and holds a PhD from University of Glosgow, UK.

Any design involves a series of decisions. The success of a design depends on how well those decisions are made. Traditionally, most design decisions are made with the intuition based on the designer’s knowledge and sensibilities. However, they are increasingly being questioned about the basis of their decisions and are held accountable for the outcomes. As a result more and more designers look for evidence to support their decisions and articulate it to the stakeholders. When it comes to designing cities and built-environment, evidence based decision making assumes even more importance—it affects lives and livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people over several decades. Geospatial is what they now rely on for these decisions.

Over 25-years in design and analysis of the built environment, Arvind has vast knowledge of sustainability and analysis with geo-spatial technologies. An urban technology professional, he helps urban planners and managers on sustainable urban development.

Ravi holds patents in areas as diverse as low cost robotics and frugal ventilators. He gives away these designs practically for free. He believes Technology and design must serve the person at the last mile – the most important person as believed by Mahatma Gandhi. In the technology centric world how do you apply advanced principles like Artificial Intelligence, robotics and advanced engineering design to solve the day-to-day problems of ordinary Indians has been the pursuit of my research and has yielded several products and patents. In my talk, I share this journey and ideas with the hope that it would ignite ideas and open fields of collaboration to use design and engineering for a self-reliant India.

Ravinder Pal Singh (Ravi) is Harvard Alumni, Award Winning Technologist, Rescue Pilot, Angel Investor and Global speaker with over 100+ global recognition and 17 Patents. His body of work, mostly 1st in the world are making a difference within acute constraints of culture and cash via commodity technology. He has been acknowledged as world’s top 25 CIO, top 10 Robotics Designer in 2019 and #1 Artificial Intelligence Leader in Asia.

Shaleen Sharma has been a practicing Architect for over 22 years and had been actively involved in academics on visiting basis with reputed institutions like University School of Architecture and Planning (USAP) Delhi and KamlaRahejaVidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies, Juhu, Mumbai.

"The spoken word is the new level playing field where the eye gets its long due rest as the mind looks inwards and exercises a virtue unique to humans; to imagine. Podcasting puts the power of broadcasting in your hands enabling you to tell your story as it allows the listener to engage with you beyond appointments. The challenge lies in monetization. Join me as I put my ears to the ground; we could be listening to the future." - Mr. Shirshendu Banerjee

From being an on-air talent on FM radio in New Delhi, to COO of the Zee group's radio assets and to now an entrepreneur in broadcasting, Shirshendu Banerjee has over twenty four years of cross sectional experience in podcasting, radio, soundscapes, and auditory principles.

Architect & Biodesigner, Shneel Malik is investigating ways in which our buildings, and our urban environments can perform biological systems such as photosynthesis. By designing at the intersection of architecture, biology and engineering, her projects are constructed from a novel living material. A material that supports the growth of microorganisms on a nanoscale, while allowing the fabrication of living, breathing systems on a macroscale. She challenges architecture to move one-step beyond the adoption of geometric forms that simply look like nature. But instead, an architecture that ‘performs’ like the systems in nature.

In her masterclass, she discusses the evolution of a radical methodology, involving - biomaterials, biofabrication, & biodesign. A thought process recognised as imperative for tackling climate change. The prototypes discussed in the talk are developed for applications, such as - cleaning polluted water, and generating energy through the photosynthetic activity of microorganisms. Join her in this very exclusive masterclass, where she shares the potentials of interdisciplinary design thinking - that lie at the heart of the Digital Art Forum.

Today, new forms of thinking are required for imagining improvement of the world. Everyone is capable of multiple forms of thinking, multiple intelligences, and the design fields cultivate these new forms of thinking. From Design Thinking to Architectural Intelligence, there is a great range of ways to liberate the imagination.

Join Dr. Mical in his masterclass where, we will learn about design ecologies, design futures, and how the skill of thinking of multiples empowers designers to liberate new worlds. To inspire, this ambitious visual presentation shows examples from the art and science of how to imagine and build differently, in a world of flux and flow, to produce work of wonder and delight.
